Our Story
Our Story
At the heart of our mission is a partnership dedicated to transforming lives and creating opportunity. The Krizevac Project, a UK-registered charity, forms the backbone of this vision. Its trading arm, Cycle of Good, generates sustainable income, while the Beehive Centre for Social Enterprise in Malawi is the primary beneficiary, empowering communities through education, training, and jobs.
Our ethos drives everything we do:
- We value people: We treat our teams, customers, and beneficiaries with fairness and respect. Over 550 people in Malawi now have meaningful employment through Beehive, helping to build a vibrant, self-sufficient community.
- We value resources: While Cycle of Good has evolved from repurposing waste, sustainability remains at our core. We now focus on creating beautiful, charity gift giving cards and greeting cards as a vital source of income.
- We Innovate with Purpose: In Malawi, Beehive has built schools offering 50% bursary places for children in need and operates training programs and social enterprises that uplift local people.
This is more than charity - it’s empowerment. Our “hands up, not handouts” approach ensures opportunity, dignity, and independence for all involved.
The History of Cycle of Good
Cycle of Good is a social enterprise raising funds for its parent charity, the Krizevac Project (1115608). Founded to support a hub of social enterprises in Chilomoni Township, Malawi, Cycle of Good has helped create jobs in Malawi. These enterprises fund vital community services, including a children’s centre providing early years care and family support for around 4,000 vulnerable children at any one time.
For over 15 years, Cycle of Good and Krizevac have been part of a quiet revolution, building skills, creating jobs, and supporting economic growth in a country without a welfare state, where earning means survival. Enterprises have focused on sustainability and community impact, shipping books, bikes, and sewing machines from the UK to Malawi, where they’re used for training, education, and income generation.
Though past initiatives like Elephant Bikes and recycled-material products helped build our foundation, Cycle of Good now focuses on producing beautiful, biodegradable greeting and gift cards. This new direction ensures we continue raising funds for life-changing projects while prioritizing sustainability and creativity.
Doing Our Bit to Save the Planet
At Cycle of Good, we’re committed to making a lasting difference for people and the planet. Building on our years of impactful work, our latest initiative, Charity Cards, lets you give meaningful gifts—such as bikes, sewing machines, or meals for children—directly benefiting families in Chilomoni Township, Malawi.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do:
- Our Malawian buildings are crafted from eco-friendly soil blocks and powered entirely by solar energy.
- We partner with the Chilomoni Forestry Service to plant trees on the local mountain, supporting reforestation efforts.
- Off-cuts from past enterprises—like bicycle inner tubes, lorry curtains, and coffee sacks—have been creatively upcycled into soft furniture for local schools, reducing waste and providing practical support.
- We minimize our carbon footprint by reducing the amount of containers we send per year, and shipping materials by sea, sometimes sharing the container space.
- Back in the UK, we recycle all waste materials, ensuring hardly anything goes to landfill.
By blending innovation with care for the environment, we’re helping build a greener, more sustainable future for everyone.
The UK Team
We’re a small but passionate team, based in a lovingly restored former pottery warehouse in Stoke-on-Trent. When we rescued the building in 2017, it was in a sorry state, but today it’s not just our hub for collecting donated resources for Malawi - it’s also part of our mission to create impact in new ways. We now rent out three-quarters of the warehouse to a heritage jug makers and a fitness distributor, generating additional income that helps fund more buildings and projects in Chilomoni Township.
You’ll often find us loading up a 40-foot shipping container, filled with life-changing items, ready for its journey to Malawi. We’re proud to partner with Halfords, who generously donate thousands of bikes every year, helping us make a real difference.
Resourcefulness is at our core—when something breaks, one of our volunteers will likely fix it with an old tool instead of buying new. Our volunteers are truly the heart of what we do! This incredible “army” gives their time and energy in exchange for a cup of tea in a donated mug—sometimes even with a slice of homemade cake.
Together, this small but mighty team, supported by our tenants and volunteers, keeps the wheels of change turning, proving that humble beginnings can create extraordinary impact.
